Walking
Walk straight out of the Gatehouse door in to the unspoilt spectacular scenery of the Northumberland Nation Park and its surrounds. Take an easy sedate route to the 10th Century Church or go and explore the hills, valleys and woodlands surrounding Alnham, all teeming with bird life and wild life. Visit the Hazelton Rigg Wood in late spring/early summer and witness the massive carpet of bluebells, keep your eyes peeled for king fishers and wood peckers, otters, badges and deer. Whether walking or cycling, the information pack in the Gatehouse suggests where to go, or you can plan your own routes on the maps provided, be intrepid and explore with map in hand or even just be in open right to roam country and then map where you went on your return.
